leadership richmond - Youth Now
I feel very fortunate and grateful to have been given the opportunity to partake in the Youth Now program. It is such an unparalleled and enriching learning experience for emerging leaders to gain exposure and tangible knowledge on what leadership at the governance level truly entails.
- Former Youth Now Participant
Youth Now is designed to harness the leadership potential found in our community by training young adults to serve as board members for local non-profit organizations. The program is open to high school graduates under the age of 26 who live, work, or study in Richmond.
There are two distinct components to the Youth Now program: 1) a leadership development component for youth who are looking to make an impact in their community; and 2) an opportunity for non-profit organizations to strengthen their boards through the infusion of younger community leaders.
Leadership Richmond – Youth Now includes training for both the young adults and non-profit organizations participating in the program. Youth Now leaders develop their leadership skills, along with their understanding of the roles that boards of directors fill and the benefits of being involved as a community leader. Organizations learn how to strengthen their boards by involving youth as full participants and mentoring them through the program.
We are now accepting applications for the 2014-5 Youth Now program, which begins in September. Application forms for both youth leaders and non-profit organizations can be found below. They're in fillable PDF format, so you can download them, complete them, and submit them when you're ready. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 29 OR until spots are filled.
