Date Set for Inaugural Richmond Caring Companies Forum
October 20, 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Richmond Caring Companies (RCC) program, which seeks to build community capacity by creating sustainable partnerships between the non-profit and business sectors, will be officially launched at a special Forum taking place November 14 at the Sandman Signature Hotel Vancouver Airport.
An initiative of Volunteer Richmond Information Services (VRIS) in partnership with the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and Ashton Service Group, RCC will assist businesses to enhance their social engagement, with a focus on developing and implementing employer-supported volunteer programs.
“Richmond is full of community-minded businesses,” says Elizabeth Specht, Executive Director of VRIS. “Through this program, they’ll receive the tools and resources they need to take their community involvement to the next level.”
Local businesses are invited to attend the November 14 Forum, where they’ll have an opportunity to learn more about RCC and how they can participate.
“There’s a large body of research showing the benefits of employer-supported volunteer programs,” says Specht. “Everyone involved – businesses, their employees, and non-profit organizations – comes out ahead. Most importantly, so does the community.”
In addition to providing an introduction to RCC, the Forum will feature presentations by leaders in the field of corporate social engagement, including Coast Capital Savings. Doug McCann, President of Frontline Leadership in Practice Solutions and former General Manager of IKEA’s Vancouver Division, will also speak at the event.
