Volunteer Shopping Programs
Volunteer Richmond Information Services works in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health to provide grocery shopping assistance to help seniors and others with long term health problems maintain their independence and remain in their own homes for as long as possible.  Trained volunteers provide these services.

Shop-by-Phone

Volunteers fill orders placed over the phone from 9am to 1pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Safeway at Broadmoor (Williams & No. 3 Road).  Safeway provides space for this program and subsidizes the grocery delivery fee.  A referral is not required for this service.

Group Shopping

Volunteers assist clients (one-on-one) to shop at the Richlea/Broodmoor Plaza on Tuesday mornings.  Safeway subsidizes the grocery delivery fee.  Clients complete the outing by having coffee or lunch together at the Pioneer Pub. Clients must be registered with handyDart (604-575-6600) and referred through Continuing Health Services (604-278-3361).

Individual Shopping

A volunteer obtains a list from the client’s home, shops for the order and then delivers it to the client’s home. Clients must be referred through Continuing Heath Services (604-278-3361).

Personal Shopping

A volunteer escorts the client to the shopping facility of choice and assists with shopping.  There may also be a social break.  The volunteer then brings the client and their shopping home. Clients must be referred through Continuing Heath Services (604- 278-3361).

For more information, to register or if you would like to volunteer for these services please call (604) 279-7020 or email us at info@volunteerrichmond.ca.
