child care resource & referral Centre
Because we're here...families and child care providers have support.
As advocates and stewards of quality child care in Richmond, we understand how important it is that parents find a child care program that matches the needs of their family and child. Our purpose is to provide families with information to meet their individual needs, and to equip child care providers with the training, materials, support and information they need to provide nurturing, safe, quality programs.
Resource Centre staff make over 500 referrals, linking families with care centres, each year. They also respond to hundreds of child care related inquiries in person, over the phone, and through e-mail.
We provide a one-stop program for child care providers where they can borrow resources, activity boxes, start-up equipment and other materials for use with children in their programs. Through training and professional development workshops, providers are offered opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills in early childhood care and education.
We also go to great lengths to recognize the amazing work done by child care providers in Richmond. From the 'Care Provider Profile' in our quarterly newsletter to the events and celebrations held during Child Care Month in May, we do our best to make Richmond aware of the vital role that child care providers play in the community.
